Welcome
The University of Derby Archery Club (UDAC) was started several years ago by students, with the support of the university, to provide the students and staff an opportunity of participating in this great sport.
It makes no difference to us if you are a score away from earning your Grand Master Bowman classification or have never picked up a bow in your life, as long as you are a student or member of staff at the university all are welcome.
You do not need to be extremely strong or fit enough to complete an Ironman triathlon to take part in archery. If you have a disability archery may well be the sport for you at the University of Derby, being one of the few sports on offer which is readily accessible for almost everyone.
As a Grand National Archery Society (GNAS) affiliated club, all members will be provided with the basic training to ensure they are able to shoot safely. Once you are able to do this we will apply for your GNAS membership which will permit you to enter tournaments and affiliate with external clubs during the summer.
There is also no need to go and spend a fortune on equipment, the club has some equipment to begin with and once your hooked, which you certainly will be, you can then look into buying your own.
For archers with a more competitive streak the club takes part competitively against other universities in the BUTTS League and BUCS competitions. The choice to compete is the archer's although the competitions are extremely novice friendly and the perfect opportunity to socialise and interact with fellow students from the various universities.
If going to the pub or for a meal after a competition isn't enough for you being a member of this club is both a sporting and social activity. While our primary emphasis is on participating, competing and being active we also have social events and regular get togethers in local venues and supporting event organised by the universities other sports clubs.
We hope you'll join us on the shooting line.
The UofDAC Committee.
